Testing New TimeWise 3D Foundation

As I’ve mentioned in previous blog posts, foundation is the final step to any good skin care routine. After washing and moisturizing your skin you have to protect it from all of the dirt, dust, pollen, etc that the world brings to us at the moment we stepped out of the door. It’s also important that we are wearing the right type of foundation for our skin whether it be the type (liquid, powder, creme, etc), the formula (for oily or dry skin), or the undertone (warm, cool, or neutral). And it is said that about 95% of women aren’t wearing the right shade. If all these factors are correct then your skin should look smooth, flawless, and healthy. Mary Kay just came out with a new foundation line which fits all of these categories so I’m excited to share it with the world!

The Mary Kay Timewise 3D Foundation:

1. Provides 12 hours of coverage

2. Has IntelliMatch technology to properly match your shade

3. Includes the Age Minimize 3D complex to help with youthful looking skin

These three facts mean so much to me as it pertains to this foundation. We all have busy lives and to know that my makeup will stay on my face for 12 hours without having to constantly touch it up. That’s one less thing to have to worry about! And the IntelliMatch technology is cool because it “captured the authentic, true skin tones of thousands of women from around the world. Three areas were scanned (forehead, cheek and décolleté) to capture over 3,000 variations of tone for more accurate data.” Through all this research the foundation shades now match more perfectly. And I love when I product is doing more than one thing at a time so I’m glad it also had the Age Minimize 3D complex as well. This is the same formula they have in the skin care so it’s also providing help with keeping or getting younger looking skin.

What I love about it

This product is very rich and pigmented so you don’t need a lot to get full coverage. Plus we have a new blending brush which helps with the full coverage look. It also goes on so creamy and leaves my skin looking smooth. Also, I used to have a lot of issues with having to touch up my makeup throughout the day because my face was so oily but this formula keeps the matte look going all day! I would recommend everyone give this a try and right now Mary Kay has a contest going where you can win a trip for two to California!

This contest is only for US citizens. If you have a Mary Kay Consulant, please contact them to enter. If you do not, you can contact me and I can either send a sample of if you live in the DC, MD, VA area I could meet up with you to try it on.

This foundation cost $25 and has an average use-up rate of 1.1 months. To order this foundation, click here.

Hooked Look Makeup Class with Juliana Mayfield

This past weekend I was honored to attend a makeup class taught by international makeup artist Juliana Mayfield. She has been in this business for over 10 years, has applied makeup to many stars, and is a pro at teaching makeup techniques as well! The class I was in is a Hooked Look class dedicated strictly to Mary Kay consultants and she only used our products. It was so informative! We had over three hours of intensive training. And we got to try out the techniques we learned while she went around the room making sure we got it right. I wanted to share a couple of tips I was taught.

Warm, Cool, Neutral?

A fun tip I learned is how to tell if your skin is warm, cool, or neutral. Knowing this information comes in handy because you then can best know which colors look best on you for fashion and makeup. You flip your wrist over and look at the big vein that goes down the middle. If the vein looks blue, you have a cool tone. If your vein is green, you have a warm tone. If it’s neither or in between, you have a neutral tone.

Where to cut eye lashes

If you buy some eye lashes and they’re too long because you have a smaller eye, cut the lashes from the inside. Lashes usually clad with some type of design and those are on the outside of the lash. If you cut it from the outside, you loose the design.

Although this particular class was just for Mary Kay consultants, she also teaches other classes as well. And can be hired to do makeup as well. I recommend checking out her videos on social media!

Click here to get to her Facebook page. All of her other sites are listed in there as well.

Here is a list of all the products I used on my face. If you’d like to purchase any of these and you don’t have a Mary Kay consultant, click here.

Three of my favorite beauty tools

As a women in the beauty industry I love tools that help me be more efficient with my skin care and makeup products. It’s important to have the proper products that will help make your life easier and not complicated. Sometimes I feel people feel either intimidated by what seems like a complicated look or they might feel like a skin care regimen might take too long to do. I’m all about efficiency as I am a women with two businesses, two other jobs, and plenty of other responsibilities. So I wanted to share three of my favorite beauty tools which I use daily in my beauty routine and how they have drastically made my life better. FYI if you click on any of the names of these beauty tools it’ll take you to a link to purchase them.

Skinvigorate Cleansing Brush

“This lightweight, two-speed power brush gently massages as it thoroughly cleans skin, removing residue, dirt and makeup in seconds.

• Removes makeup 85% better than cleansing by hand.*

• Boosts the absorption of your next skin care step.

• Starts improving skin’s appearance immediately.

• Helps polish away the look of past skin damage for a more even-looking complexion.

• Softens the appearance of lines and wrinkles.”

This brush makes me feel as if I am in a fancy spa every morning as I take a shower. The bristles are soft so they feel good. And I can tell that I am getting a deeper and more fuller cleaning. It makes my cleanser work double time which means the benefits I get from my cleanser are even more effective. The brush is easy use and the brush heads are easy to change out. I also love that the brush comes with batteries and two additional brush heads. Plus in the future you can also buy more brush heads separately. One piece of advice I’d give while using this though is to make sure your hair is up because I use the brush on my neck as well and I’ve had a couple of occasions where my hair got stuck in the brush.

Essential Brush Collection

“The Mary Kay® Essential Brush Collection includes five high-quality, precisely shaped brushes which are ideal for creating a range of looks, packed in a stylish, portable clutch.

• New brush shapes help anyone create makeup looks with confidence.

• Each brush excels at blendability, application and pickup.

• Synthetic bristles are compatible with liquid, cream and powder.”

In order to get the makeup look you want, you have to be using the right tools. And this brush collection has all the tools you need!

“The collection includes:

  • All-Over Powder Brush
  • Cheek Brush
  • All-Over Eye Shadow Brush
  • Eye Crease Brush
  • Eye Smudger Brush”

It also has a case to keep all the brushes in that is sleek and travels well. Each brush is perfectly angled for the part of the face it is used on. The brushes have the techniques you need without you having to be an expert.

Travel Roll-Up Bag

Here’s a great way to keep skin care products and cosmetics safe and organized while you’re on the go. Compartments are removable for added convenience.

This is probably my favorite of all three items because of its versatility. You can hang the bag up with a hook, the compartments are clear so you can easily see what’s inside, they come off with Velcro, and the bag rolls up and you can carry it by its handle. I have one that I keep in my shower with all of my cleansers and soaps I use there, I have one I use when I go to the gym, I have one for when I travel which I keep all my liquid items in, and in college I used one to keep all my accessories organized. There are an infinite amount of ways to use this bag!

So what are some of your favorite beauty tools? I love getting feedback from you guys so keep it coming! And don’t forget to follow my blog by pressing the button at the bottom of the page.

New Mary Kay Chromafusion Makeup Line

You guys….I am sooooo excited about this new makeup line with Mary Kay Cosmetics. It JUST came out and I can’t wait to share it with everyone. It is called Chromafusion and it is a GAME CHANGER in the makeup industry. As a director with Mary Kay, I get new products early so I have now been using these products for a couple of weeks and I see a HUGE difference. The line consists of eye shadows, blushes, highlighters, and contours.

 Here are some facts:

  • 12 hour wear
  • High-impact color payoff
  • Pigment-rich colors in matte and shimmer shades
  • Curated by top makeup artists
  • Dermatologist tested
  • Clinically tested for skin irritancy and allergy
  • Suitable for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers
These products are powered by Mary Kay Chromafusion Matrix Technology. It is a hybrid technique  that specially wraps finely-milled, premium pigments to amplify color like never before. The enhanced pigments are then fused into a lightweight powder to create a smooth and flexible matrix.
There is also a new Pro Pallette that Mary Kay introduced which is fully customizable and magnetic to keep all your colors in place. You can arrange your makeup any way you would like and it holds all of the makeup from this line and former line plus foundations and bronzers.

My thoughts:

I love how highly pigmented the colors are. It does not take much to make the color pop on your skin. That means that you get a bright look and also that your products will last longer because you don’t need as much. It’s also amazing that it last 12 hours and I know that for myself because often times I do my makeup early in the morning and am running around all day, forgetting to reapply my makeup. But then once I catch myself in the mirror between meetings or a night event, I realize I don’t need to do anything but my makeup still looks like it did in the morning! The variety of colors is also amazing for me. I love matching my makeup with my clothes for the day so no matter if I’m wearing blue, green, gold, etc. I can match my makeup with my outfit. The highlighting and contour colors are great too. They have shades for every skin tone no matter how light or dark and I appreciate them thinking of that. My mother, also a Mary Kay director, said to me the other day that when you highlight and contour it’s like the difference between a blurry picture and a focused one. Those steps help to define your face and bone structure which make for a cleaner look.

Cost:

Pro Palette: $25
Eye Shadow: $8
Blush: $14
Highlight: $14
Contour: $14
If you are interested in purchasing any of these items and you do not have a Mary Kay consultant, I would love for you to send me a message here. I am also looking for beauty bloggers and makeup artist in the US for try samples of this new line and share their opinion on their pages. Please message me here as well for that. Mary Kay Matte Lipstick Review

Every Holiday season Mary Kay puts out a new line of products to celebrate and this year is no different. I love the all but I’d like to highlight one thing in particular, a line of four bright and bold matte lipstick colors. According to the website this lipstick is, “The “It” lipstick inspired by the trendsetters of Milan.

• A velvety veil of pigment-packed color

• Created exclusively for Mary Kay.

• Available in four bold shades: Grazie, Violet; Orange Mio; Red Roma; and Puro Mirtillo”

I decided to try on all of the colors and give you guys my opinion.

Review

I am in love with these matte lipsticks for so many reason. The main one is listed on the website. It is described as having a velvety veil and I would definitely have to agree. It is a creamy formula and does not go on dry like matte lipsticks can often do. My lips don’t feel like the dessert after putting these colors on. I also love these colors because it stays on through EVERYTHING! I have eaten, drank, been out all day, etc. and these colors are still on my lips! I rarely have to touch anything up when I have these on. The third thing I love is how pigmented they are. You don’t have to put a lot on to see the color so you also get your bang for your buck because the lipstick will last longer. And I can’t forget about the names of these colors! They are Milan inspired and just fun to say. And the bottle is more sleek than the other lipsticks from Mary Kay. My favorite color is Puro Mortillo. It is a very deep purple color and I am always in love with anything in that color scheme. It’s perfect for the upcoming seasons of fall and winter.

Tips and tricks

1. The color, orange mio, is beautiful on my darker skin but it can sort of blend in with my face. I would recommend using a darker lip liner to define the lips if you have darker skin.

2. As I mentioned before come rain or shine these colors will not come off your lips. And that also means when you take it off along with the rest of your makeup at night you might have some issues. What I use to quickly and easily take these colors off of Mary Kay’s Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover. It is primarily used to help take off eye makeup as the name suggest but it also works on your lips as well. You just squirt a little onto a cotton ball and brush that over your lips and voila, the color comes off almost immediately.

These colors retail at $18 and can only be purchased from a Mary Kay beauty consultant.  If you already have a consultant then please contact them,  but if you do not have a consultant then you can order these colors from my website.  If you live in the DC, Maryland, or Virginia area I would love to set up a time for you to try on these fun colors. Contact me for more info! Let me know what you guys think of these colors!  Comment below with your opinions.

Easy 5 Step Makeup Look

About a week ago I went on a trip to North Carolina to visit my sister. I had an AWESOME time, but i noticed when I got home my makeup was missing. So the next morning when I had to leave out the house, I searched all over the and found a couple of items I could use for a quick easy makeup look and I’d love to share.

Step One: Brow Pencil

I used to get my eyebrows waxed so now they’re not as full as I’d like them to be. So the first thing I did is filled in my brows with my Dark Brunette Precision Brow Liner. The tip I was taught for this is to line the top and bottom of your brow and then fill it in. It’s much easier when you have those guidelines to follow.

Brows only

Step Two: Foundation Primer

I’ve shared the importance of primers before but to quickly reiterate, using primers helps your makeup go on smoother and stay on longer. It’s really great for those with oily skin or those who might have an event after work and don’t feel like touching up their makeup. The primer I used is Foundation Primer Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 15. What I love about this primer is it has broad spectrum SPF. That means it takes care of UVA rays, which cause aging, and UVB rays, which cause burning.

Step Three: CC Cream

The last step to any good skin care routine is some kind of foundation or tinted moisturizer because we should be protecting our open pores from all of the dirt, pollen, and etc that floats around during our daily routine. For a natural and quick look I love to use a CC Cream which stands for Complexion Corrector because as it gives you a little coverage for the day it is also helping to even your skin tone overtime. I love any product that works 2 in 1 so this is one of my favorites. It comes in 5 different shades from very light to very deep. I use very deep. Another quick tip, anytime you apply something to your face always want to grab in circular motions upwards. This is because even though you might not see or feel the difference but gravity is slowly pulling our face down more and more every day and that little action helps against this.

Brows and CC Cream

Step Four: Makeup Finishing Spray

This is a great final step to any good makeup routine because it basically seals the deal. For that I use a Makeup Finishing Spray. You spray your face in an X motion and then a T motion and now your make up has staying power of up to 16 hours. It’s as simple as that!

Step Five: Nourishine Plus Lip Gloss

To complete this fast and simple look I added a little neutral lipgloss on my lips called Nourishine Plus Lip Gloss. What I love about this lip gloss is that it’s packed with antioxidants and vitamins which help your lips feel smooth and the formula isn’t sticky. The color I have on my lips is called Golden.

Nothing, brows, CC Cream, lip gloss

Do you have any quick makeup tips you use on a daily? Have you ever lost all your makeup? I’d love to hear all your comments, questions and/or concerns on this topic. Write it below and don’t forget to hit the follow button at the bottom to never miss a post!

Skin Care Giveaway!

So I wanted to share a couple of thoughts I have on skin care. As you might know from my About Age section, I have been a beauty consultant with Mary Kay Cosmetics for 12 years. And I have run across a lot of ladies who have a lot of varying opinions on skin care. The two main things I have seen of those who aren’t focus on using a good skin care regimen everyday are 1. those who love makeup and focus more on that than skin care (obviously this isn’t everybody, i’m talking about a specific sector of people) and 2. those who haven’t put much thought into any type of beauty or skin care and just use the same soap on their whole body or don’t wash their face at all. So I wanted to share some information with those two groups. And also share a giveaway I’m doing this week.

GIVEAWAY!!!

Since I am sharing all of this information about skin care, I figured I’d do a give away for some skin care as well. I am going to do a drawing for a Timewise Miracle Set 3D The Go Set which is a smaller, travel size version which last about 2-3 weeks valued at $25. There will also be other winners who receive samples. This set also comes in dry/normal or oily/combo. All you have to do is fill out the form listed below and you’ll be entered into the drawing. I will be informing everyone of the winner on Sunday night. There are a couple of rules/guidelines:

  • You must not have a MK consultant
  • You must not already be one of my customers
  • Must be a follower/subscriber to my blog
  • You can be international

Makeup over Skin Care

I know many people and have come across many people who love makeup. I’m one of them. It’s fun to have different looks for different occasions, how colors blend together, etc. And some of those people who I have met who love makeup only focus on that part of their beauty regimen. But to achieve the best makeup looks you have to start off with a palette that is healthy and clean. This means that every night we have to wash our face because makeup goes into our pores, clogs them, and creates havoc on our face. And we have to make sure that if we have acne or certain signs of aging we have to use skin care products that will help with that. It is great that there are TONS of makeup products which will cover up blemishes on our face, but if we deal with what we are trying to cover up than we can use less makeup which means our products will last longer.

No Beauty Regimen at all

The other group of ladies that I often see or know are those who tell me that they either just wash their face with water or use the same soap for their whole body. And an analogy I often use with this group is by asking them to think about driving throughout the day. At the end of the day there is usually some type of dirt, dust, pollen, etc. that is on that car. Those same things are on your face by the end of the day too. So if you don’t at least wash your face and use a good moisturizer morning and night you have all those elements going into your pores and therefore into your body. This is why I also recommend that everybody use at LEAST a tinted moisturizer daily as well to act as a protectant for your clean pores against the elements mentioned earlier. It is good to know what type of skin you have whether it by dry, oily, or combo and use a skin care regimen made specifically for your skin. Also if you have sensitive skin, acne prone skin, signs of aging, etc. it’s good to look for a line that deals with those things too. Skin care is a very customized thing because everyone’s skin is different. So sometimes you have to play around with different skin care lines until you find what works best for you.
